Friday the 13th had proved to be lucky for Melissa and Andrew, they married on that day this May.
It was a beautiful day! Just read their story 🙂
“What can we say! We are absolutely thrilled with our pictures!! We love the natural nature of them. From the get go Olga was an absolute pleasure to deal with….we feel like we have really gotten to know her over the past year , nothing we asked was ever an issue and we even had tea in her house to discuss the wedding before the big day! Olga and Alex added to the craic on the day and we had great fun during the photo shoot…we love the documentary style of the pictures. I rang Olga the evening before the wedding and told her i was having trouble finding someone to blow up the helium balloons that we really wanted for the pics…
Low and behold she organised her friend to come to the Hotel the morning of the wedding to blow them up! I was so thrilled! Now that is over and above a photographer’s duty!! A true star!
We would highly recommend Mrs Redhead..a very talented and passionate photographer!! Thank you Olga & Alex!! “
A special thank you to all the staff at hotel Doolin….particularly Donal, Paul and Raquel!! They made planning the wedding a dream! Pauline the gardener went over and above by providing decorations from her own back garden at the entrance of the hotel for us! We could not have asked for more…..they really care at Hotel Doolin! We are delighted that we dared to be different!!
Melissa & Andrew
The whole day was amazing, if i had to pick a highlight it was walking up the aisle and Father Bobby Singing Elvis in the church was simply superb!
Advice to other couples…..Relax and enjoy the day…all the work is done…just embrace this special time with all your family and friends…there will most likely never be and occasion like it where everyone is together in one place…it is wonderful!!
When planning remember what it is all about…stressing about it spoils the fun! And don’t wish the time away…the engagement is a very special time!
- We met in the University of Limerick but did not get together until we had both finished our studies here. After College, Andrew lived with my friend Cathy (who was one of my bridesmaids) in Galway and I visited her for the Galway races! The rest is history…we were inseparable from then on! Andrew got down on one knee in a rowing boat in the middle of Lake Bled Slovenia on the 28th June 2015……it was not an easy task trying not to capsize while on one knee with a ring in his hand! It was very romantic and a moment that i will never forget!
- We both wanted something different and started looking at alternative venues….Hotel Doolin was the first place we went to view and it was exactly what we wanted! We just loved the marquee and the quirky, relaxed vibe..we were very lucky to get a date just 10 months later!! Louise at Grace Events sorted our decor needs which was just fantastic especially as we are both not from the area so it would have been hard transporting everything! Nothing was too much! She is Amazing!!! We loved that we had a blank canvas to work with and decorate it any way we wanted!!
- I got my dress in Say I Do in Midelton Co Cork. As soon as i started looking i knew i wanted something simple with a WOW back! I loved my Paloma Blanca Dress. My Maid of honour Amelia was with me when i was 90% and then we returned a week later with Lynn my other bridesmaid and bought it!
- The bridesmaid dresses were Virgos lounge and the flower girl and junior bridesmaid dresses were from Littlewoods…….they were perfect!
- Andrew got his Lambretta suit from Gentleman’s Quarters in Cork City. The boys suits were from Camden Square in Limerick and we hired the junior grooms mans(Dylan’s) suit from Morley’s in Cork City. The boys button holes and Dickie bows were all sourced on Etsy…..as was a lot of the decor/touches!
- We went went a relaxed rustic theme…where burlap/wheat and bunting was very apparent! We would have to mention Andrew ripping his pants during our first dance ” Pencil Full of Lead by Paulo Nutini”…He was throwing some moves on the dance floor ( in typical Andrew Style!!)that the suit could not handle it!!…very funny!! Also myself and my work gang did a flash mob that was a complete surprise to Andrew and to everyone! The look on his face was priceless!
- We did a mini moon around Ireland and are just back from our honeymoon in Hong Kong and Bali Indonesia. It was paradise!!
